Positive Behavioural Support

PBS

Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) is an evidence-based intervention designed to improve social skills, communication and functioning in individuals with developmental disabilities. In essence, it's a way of turning problem behaviours into positive, proactive and effective ones. PBS doesn't just focus on specific problems; it helps individuals understand why they're experiencing certain problems so that it becomes easier for them to maintain self-control. While trying to identify negative behaviours, PBS interventions assist individuals in learning appropriate ways to express emotions through talking and visual support, helping them find non-destructive outlets for anger or anxiety. PBS aims to teach pro-social strategies and equip individuals with a better understanding of how their actions affect other people. PBS also promotes clear lines of communication between schools, families, and community agencies involved in caring for individuals with special needs.

Neurodiversity

Neurodiversity is a concept that recognises and celebrates the natural variation in neurological functioning among individuals. Neurodivergent people often possess unique perspectives, talents and abilities, but they may also face unique challenges.
Counselling and psychotherapy services are valuable resources for neurodivergent individuals, offering them guidance, support and tools to thrive in a neurotypical world and help them harness their unique strengths and lead fulfilling lives.

Neurodiversity Umbrella

Neurodiversity can be an advantage when in the right environment and given the proper credence and support.
